Perioperative Care Nurse – Cardiac Surgery

About the role

The Perioperative Care Nurse will join a cardiac surgery team in Port Harcourt, providing comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after cardiac procedures. This role ensures patient safety, supports the surgical team, and maintains high standards of clinical practice.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and assess patients for cardiac surgery.
• Deliver peri‑operative and post‑operative nursing care.
• Assist the surgical team with cardiac procedures and theatre set‑up.
• Monitor patients, identify complications early, and escalate as needed.
• Administer medications and treatments safely.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
• Follow infection‑prevention, patient‑safety, and clinical protocols.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anaesthetists, perfusionists, and other healthcare professionals.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a valid NMCN licence.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant nursing experience, preferably in cardiac surgery, cardiothoracic theatre, ICU, or peri‑operative care.
• Strong clinical assessment, monitoring, and emergency‑response abilities.
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field.
