People Operations Specialist – US Startup Back‑Office

About the role

ChoreChore runs the back‑office for US startup founders, handling HR, payroll, finance and compliance. As a People Operations Specialist you will partner directly with founders to manage their critical operational matters and keep their companies running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate tactical tasks such as tax filing with accountants, NDA preparation, and vendor negotiations while maintaining cost awareness.
• Provide strategic guidance on compensation benchmarks, equity structures, and back‑office processes.
• Research and resolve edge‑case compliance issues, regulator queries, and unusual filings.
• Select and recommend tools and vendors that fit early‑stage, bootstrapped budgets.

Required profile

• 2+ years of experience interfacing with clients or external parties, taking ownership of outcomes.
• Strong written and spoken communication; able to present clearly to founders.
• High agency, detail‑oriented, and comfortable switching contexts under pressure.
• Willingness to work US business hours (EST or PST) on a remote basis.

Required skills

• Experience with HR and payroll platforms such as Gusto, Rippling, or Deel.
• Proficiency in accounting tools like QuickBooks, Xero, and equity management software Carta.
• Familiarity with collaboration tools ClickUp, Slack, Notion, and Google Suite.
