About the role
The Sustainability Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) Officer will support the design and implementation of MEL systems for enterprise development interventions in Gombe State. The role involves extensive field work, data management, and translating findings into actionable programme improvements.
Key responsibilities
- Implement the project’s MEL framework, conduct routine field monitoring visits and collect quantitative and qualitative data from enterprises, beneficiaries and partners.
- Maintain accurate project databases, track performance against targets, and support baseline, midline and end‑line assessments.
- Conduct data quality assurance activities, including verification, validation, cleaning and spot‑checks, and build capacity of field teams on data standards.
- Measure sustainability indicators such as resource efficiency, circular economy practices, climate resilience and enterprise growth, and contribute to indicator development.
- Support quantitative and qualitative analysis, produce dashboards, charts and analytical briefs, and translate insights into recommendations.
- Facilitate learning sessions, document lessons learned and success stories, and help integrate MEL findings into programme planning.
- Prepare regular MEL updates, field monitoring reports and contributions to donor reporting, ensuring evidence is credible and verifiable.
- Engage with project teams, community stakeholders and partners to clarify data requirements and support effective data collection.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Economics, Development Studies, Environmental/Sustainability Studies, Social Sciences, Agriculture or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in MEL, programme monitoring, impact measurement or data management, preferably in development, sustainability, agriculture or enterprise development programmes.
- Experience conducting field monitoring, data quality assessments and working with community‑based organisations, SMEs or farmers.
- Post‑graduate qualification or professional training in MEL, Data Analytics, Sustainability or Project Management is an advantage.
