Migration Health Nurse Consultant

About the role

The Migration Health Nurse Consultant will deliver daily nursing services at the Migration Health Assessment Centre (MHAC) in Nigeria, supporting the health assessment process for migrants and refugees destined for resettlement countries. The role involves clinical examinations, specimen collection, vaccinations, TB/HIV counselling and comprehensive documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct medical examinations, including vital signs, weight, height and visual acuity.
• Collect blood, urine and sputum samples as required.
• Perform imaging, laboratory testing and administer vaccinations.
• Manage TB cases, provide treatment referrals and coordinate pre‑departure medical procedures.
• Document and certify health findings, ensuring accurate biodata collection and ID verification.
• Provide migrants and refugees with clear explanations of the health assessment process and any required treatments.
• Maintain universal precautions, follow SOPs and health assessment checklists.
• Offer pre‑ and post‑counselling on TB and HIV prevention and management.
• Prepare administrative reports, program updates and statistical summaries for senior staff.
• Collaborate with internal IOM departments, health providers, panel physicians, embassies, UN agencies and NGOs.

Required profile

• Background in nursing with experience in health assessment clinics.
