Health Specialist – Social & Behavioral Change (Polio) – P4

About the role
UNICEF is seeking a Health Specialist to lead social and behavioural change (SBC) interventions that support Nigeria’s polio eradication plan. The specialist will design, implement, monitor and evaluate SBC strategies to increase demand for polio vaccination and routine immunisation.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement evidence‑based SBC strategies to interrupt poliovirus transmission.
- Generate demand for polio vaccination, address vaccine hesitancy and reduce missed children.
- Provide technical and operational support for SBC activities during vaccination campaigns and outbreak responses.
- Support sustained community engagement between vaccination rounds and contribute to other health interventions as needed.
- Advocate, build partnerships and coordinate with stakeholders to enhance SBC impact.
Required profile
- Proven experience designing, managing and evaluating SBC or social‑mobilisation interventions in public health, preferably in polio or immunisation programmes.
- Strong knowledge of Nigeria’s polio eradication framework and routine immunisation systems.
- Ability to provide technical assistance during outbreak response and to work with multi‑sectoral partners.
