Head of Collections – Strategy, Transformation & Performance

About the role

FairMoney is seeking a senior leader to own end‑to‑end collections performance across its mobile banking platform in Nigeria. The role combines strategic design, data‑driven decision making, and cross‑functional influence to optimise cash flow, reduce arrears, and improve long‑term customer value.

Key responsibilities

• Full accountability for cash collected, arrears, roll‑rates, PAR/NPL and recovery economics.
• Design and execute a multi‑horizon collections strategy covering short‑term cash optimisation, mid‑term recovery improvement and long‑term behaviour change.
• Build structured early‑ vs‑late‑stage collections processes, segmentation‑driven treatments and incentive‑based interventions.
• Introduce experimentation frameworks (control vs test) and ROI‑driven rollouts.
• Use data to drive decisions, partnering with Risk and Data Science on roll‑rate optimisation, behavioural analytics and unit‑economics reporting.
• Develop a high‑calibre leadership bench within Collections, upgrading talent and fostering a culture of accountability.
• Actively influence Product, Risk, Tech and CX teams, challenging designs that harm recoveries.
• Represent Collections at senior leadership and ExCo forums, balancing performance with long‑term customer value.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading collections strategy and performance in a financial services or fintech environment.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to translate data insights into actionable initiatives.
• Demonstrated capability to build and develop high‑performing teams.
• Excellent cross‑functional collaboration skills, influencing product, risk, technology and customer experience stakeholders.
• Willingness to fully relocate to Nigeria and spend significant time on‑site.
