General Manager, Business Development & Consumer/Retail Banking

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned General Manager to lead Business Development and Consumer/Retail Banking operations for Mutual Alliance Mortgage Bank in Marina, Akwa Ibom. The role will drive portfolio growth, market expansion and profitability across consumer, retail and personal banking lines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead expansion of consumer, retail and personal banking lines, growing deposit liabilities and quality risk assets.
• Develop and execute market penetration strategies across Uyo and the wider Akwa Ibom State, identifying high‑yield opportunities and nurturing high‑net‑worth relationships.
• Oversee monthly fee structures, interest income, investment returns and expense tracking; prepare management accounts, budgets, financial statements and variance reports.
• Ensure compliance with CBN and NDIC regulations by managing timely submission of monthly, quarterly and bi‑annual returns.
• Evaluate credit applications using robust appraisal standards and apply enterprise risk management to maintain a low‑NPL portfolio.
• Direct daily retail banking operations, set performance benchmarks, monitor budget control and lead business development teams to meet growth targets.

Required profile

• Minimum degree in finance, banking, management or related field; postgraduate or professional qualification is a plus.
• At least 10 years of banking experience, with prior management‑level roles.
• Strong interpersonal and computer skills, fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Proven ability to prepare and interpret management accounts, budgets, and regulatory returns.
