Finance & Accounting Lead

About the role

Lenol is a venture-backed clean energy company operating electric motorcycle leasing and a network of solar-powered battery rental hubs across Lagos. It is hiring its first in-house accounting hire, a hands-on Finance & Accounting Lead to set up and run the accounting and financial reporting function from the ground up, with direct exposure to the founding team.

Key responsibilities

• Establish the accounting function: set up the accounting system, chart of accounts, financial records and reporting processes, and implement bookkeeping, reconciliation, financial controls and documentation standards.
• Organise and reconcile historical records, set up accounting treatment for financed assets (electric motorcycles, batteries, solar infrastructure), and build scalable processes.
• Manage day-to-day accounting: bookkeeping, daily payment reconciliation, accounts receivable/payable, expenses and asset records.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheets and cash flow statements, and support budgeting, cash flow management and financial forecasting.
• Produce monthly financial reporting packs for management and investors, track revenue, margins, unit economics, collections and profitability by business line, and prepare schedules and reconciliations for audits and investor due diligence.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 4-6 years of accounting and finance experience, preferably in a growing business.
• ACA, ACCA or equivalent is an advantage.
• Experience setting up or independently managing accounting systems, and preparing accounts for external audits or due diligence.
• Experience in a startup, fintech, leasing, asset financing or transaction-heavy business is an advantage.

Required skills

• Bookkeeping, bank reconciliation, financial statements and month-end closing.
• Accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books or similar.
• Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills, including financial analysis and reporting.
• Knowledge of Nigerian tax requirements, financial reporting standards and accounting controls.
