Education Technical Assistant – Monguno, Nigeria

About the role

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is seeking an enthusiastic Education Technical Assistant to support the implementation of education activities for displaced and host communities in Monguno, Borno State. The role involves coordinating learning spaces, monitoring project delivery, and engaging with local stakeholders to ensure safe, inclusive and gender‑sensitive education services.

Key responsibilities

• Support day‑to‑day implementation of education project activities according to workplans and timelines.
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor progress, identify challenges and provide feedback to the Project Officer.
• Assist in organising trainings, workshops, community engagement sessions and logistical arrangements.
• Coordinate learning activities in schools, Temporary Learning Spaces (TLS) and community‑based education centres.
• Maintain accurate project records, beneficiary data, attendance sheets and activity reports.
• Facilitate community mobilisation with School‑Based Management Committees, parent groups, youth groups and local leaders.
• Support the distribution and documentation of education materials, teaching supplies and recreation kits.
• Collect routine monitoring data and contribute to assessments, surveys and post‑distribution evaluations.

Required profile

• Passion for helping refugees and internally displaced persons.
• Experience or familiarity with education projects in humanitarian settings.
• Ability to travel to remote field locations and conduct monitoring visits.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail for record‑keeping.
• Good communication skills for community engagement and stakeholder coordination.
