DevOps Engineer - AWS & Kubernetes

About the role

A leading Fintech, represented by eRecruiter, is hiring a DevOps Engineer in Lagos to take ownership of its cloud infrastructure and DevOps operations. You will oversee the design, deployment and optimisation of AWS-based infrastructure, orchestrating workloads across Kubernetes and serverless environments such as AWS Lambda, while automating processes and improving system reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, ensuring scalability, reliability and security.
• Manage and optimise containerised applications with Kubernetes for high availability and performance.
• Build, monitor and improve CI/CD pipelines to speed up deployments.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues and implement optimisations to reduce downtime.
• Implement security best practices, including IAM configurations, VPC design and automated compliance checks.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product and Data teams to scale infrastructure and share DevOps best practices.
• Mentor junior team members and create documentation of architecture, deployment and operational procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years of experience in DevOps or a similar role, with a strong background in cloud infrastructure and automation.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work across cultures, functions and time zones.
• Enthusiasm for mentoring and supporting junior colleagues.

Required skills

• Extensive AWS experience, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda and ECS.
• Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Kubernetes cluster management.
• Scripting in Python, Bash or similar.
• CI/CD tools such as CircleCI, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD or AWS CodePipeline.
• Monitoring and logging tools such as DataDog, Prometheus, Grafana or AWS CloudWatch.
• Security principles, IAM policies, secrets management and compliance.
