Deputy Head of Transport

About the role

Adexen is seeking an experienced Deputy Head of Transport to support the strategic leadership and operational management of a large international industrial group's transport and logistics activities across Nigeria. Reporting to the Head of Transport, you will oversee regional operations, ensuring safe, reliable and cost‑effective movement of raw materials and finished products.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of Transport in implementing transport strategy, policies and standards for the assigned region.
• Lead inbound and outbound transport operations, maintaining high safety and reliability standards.
• Manage and optimise a large fleet through route planning, vehicle allocation and turnaround‑time improvement.
• Monitor transport KPIs, drive corrective actions and improve cost efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with transport regulations, HSE standards and internal policies.
• Coordinate with contractors, third‑party logistics providers and regulatory authorities.
• Support fleet modernisation, including procurement of new equipment and adoption of telematics and fleet‑management systems.
• Collaborate with Production, Sales, Procurement, Engineering and Supply Chain teams for seamless logistics execution.
• Develop regional risk‑mitigation and business continuity plans.
• Lead, coach and develop regional transport management teams.

Required profile

• Executive‑level experience (minimum 15 years) in transport and logistics management.
• Proven leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Strong track record in fleet optimisation, cost reduction and operational excellence.
• Excellent knowledge of Nigerian transport regulations and HSE standards.
