Compliance Manager

About the role

The Compliance Manager will lead the development and oversight of compliance frameworks for a leading financial services institution in West Africa. This role ensures adherence to legal, regulatory and internal policies while supporting business growth and risk mitigation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and monitor control systems to prevent violations of laws, regulations and internal policies.
• Draft, review and update compliance policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
• Conduct regular risk assessments, compliance testing, spot checks and investigations to identify gaps and recommend remediation.
• Monitor regulatory developments, interpret circulars and coordinate timely responses to audits and regulator inquiries.
• Provide advisory support to business units, assess compliance implications of new products and initiatives, and collaborate with Legal, Risk and Internal Audit.
• Prepare and present compliance reports, dashboards and risk updates for senior management and regulators.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• 5‑7 years of progressive experience in compliance, risk management, internal control or audit, preferably in banking or financial services.
• Professional compliance certification (e.g., CAMS, ICA, CRCM) is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of AML/CFT, sanctions and financial crime regulations.
• Proven ability to develop policies, conduct regulatory monitoring and deliver risk‑based advisory.
