Associate Litigation Lawyer – Lagos

About the role

The firm, a mid‑tier commercial law practice with 26 years of experience, is seeking a hard‑working and resourceful associate to join its litigation team in Lagos. Reporting to the Managing Partner, the associate will handle a broad range of disputes and commercial matters while working closely with senior lawyers and paralegals.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and organise new work, conduct document review, fact‑finding and thorough legal research.
• Draft court processes, pleadings, appellate notices, and prepare cases for trial and courtroom advocacy.
• Supervise junior staff and paralegals, manage time and weekly planning, and cross‑sell firm services.
• Incorporate companies via the Corporate Affairs Commission portal, act as Company Secretary, and advise on corporate governance, contracts, real property and taxation.
• Prepare wills, probate applications and provide private client services.

Required profile

• Minimum three consecutive years of litigation experience.
• Second‑class upper honours degree in Law (or Nigerian Law School) – a master’s degree or chartered qualifications (e.g., Chartered Secretary, Tax Practitioner) is an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail, commercial awareness, excellent written and spoken English.
• Demonstrated ability to manage risks, work long hours, and maintain professional discipline.
