Chief Operating Officer

About the role

Havana Group of Companies is hiring a Chief Operating Officer in Enugu, Nigeria. The COO works closely with the CEO and the executive leadership team to turn the Group's strategic objectives into operational plans, oversee day-to-day operations across the Group and build a high-performance culture.

Key responsibilities

• Translate the Group's strategy into operational plans, lead company-wide initiatives and give senior leadership operational insights and performance reports
• Oversee day-to-day operations, set standards, processes and KPIs, and remove bottlenecks to improve efficiency
• Lead department heads and senior managers, work with HR on talent development and performance management, and develop capable leaders
• Evaluate and improve business processes, set up controls, reporting and approval processes, and drive technology and automation adoption
• Monitor operational budgets, costs, revenue and commercial performance with the CEO and Finance team
• Support expansion into new markets and products, assess operational needs and build scalable systems

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Economics, Engineering or a related field; an MBA or advanced qualification is an advantage
• 8+ years of progressive management and leadership experience, including senior operational or general management roles
• Proven experience managing operations across multiple departments and scaling or restructuring a growing organization
• Experience managing and developing senior managers and cross-functional teams

Required skills

• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of revenue, costs, profitability and growth
• Track record of implementing systems, processes and performance structures
• Analytical, problem-solving and project management abilities
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management skills
• Understanding of organizational governance, risk management and operational controls
