Business Development & Growth Lead – Field Operations

About the role

Barqly is expanding its operations in Ibadan and needs a hands‑on Business Development & Growth Lead to build the ecosystem from the ground up. This is a high‑intensity, field‑based position focused on acquiring merchants, recruiting riders, and ensuring smooth daily market operations.

Key responsibilities

• Merchant & Partner Acquisition: Visit 15–20 new restaurants, bakeries, and vendors daily, pitch Barqly’s value proposition, negotiate commissions, close deals on the spot, and onboard partners with complete menu data and app training.
• Fleet Recruitment & Vetting: Source independent riders, verify bikes and licenses, conduct training on app usage and safety, and distribute Barqly branding gear.
• Market Operations & Troubleshooting: Provide live support during peak hours at high‑volume locations, monitor order flow, and relay technical or merchant issues to the product team in real time.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in field sales, FMCG distribution, or logistics.
• Native‑level fluency in English and Yoruba.
• Physical stamina to work 8+ hours daily in Ibadan’s heat and traffic.
• Proficiency with smartphone navigation, Google Maps, and app dashboards.
• B.Sc or HND in Business/Marketing preferred, though proven track record is valued more.
