Budget & Accounting Assistant – Finance, Contract & Audit

About the role

The EU Delegation in Abuja seeks a Budget / Accounting Assistant to support the Finance, Contract and Audit section. Working under the Head of Section, you will assist in managing EU‑funded projects, tender procedures, contracts and audit follow‑up.

Key responsibilities

• Control and initiate financial transactions in line with EU financial regulations.
• Prepare and analyse invoices, payment orders, recovery orders and ensure accurate data entry in IT systems.
• Support tender procedures, calls for proposals and act as secretary in direct management processes.
• Monitor procurement and grant procedures, and follow‑up on contracts and audit matters.
• Contribute to financial reporting, statistics and correspondence with operational sections.

Required profile

• University degree (minimum 3 years) in Finance, Law, Audit, Business Administration or related field.
• At least 3 years relevant experience, including 2 years in tendering and finance/contract management.
• Fluent English (C2 level) and strong numeracy skills.
• Medical fitness and eligibility to work under Nigerian labour law.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Knowledge of project monitoring methods and logical‑framework techniques.
