Budget & Accounting Assistant – Finance, Contract & Audit

About the role

The European Union Delegation in Abuja seeks a Budget / Accounting Assistant to support the Finance, Contract and Audit (FCA) section. This fixed‑term position lasts two years, with a possible renewal subject to budgetary and operational considerations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the financial management of EU‑funded projects and programmes.
• Support tender procedures, calls for proposals, contract preparation and monitoring.
• Process payments, recoveries and ensure compliance with EU financial regulations.
• Follow up audit matters and provide necessary documentation.
• Advise operational sections and beneficiaries/contractors on contractual, financial and audit issues.
• Collaborate with a team of 12 professionals, adapting to changing delegation needs.

Required profile

• Experience in budget and finance management, preferably within public or international organisations.
• Familiarity with EU funding procedures, tendering and contract administration.
• Ability to work under the supervision of the Head of Section and handle occasional atypical working hours.
