Auditor

About the role

Jewels Leading Lights Academy is hiring a full-time Auditor based in Abuja, Nigeria. The role covers examining financial records, running internal and external audits and strengthening internal controls within a fintech and lending environment.

Key responsibilities

• Examine financial records, accounts and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
• Conduct internal or external audits in line with applicable standards and procedures.
• Assess the effectiveness of internal controls and risk management processes.
• Identify financial discrepancies, irregularities and potential cases of fraud.
• Verify compliance with company policies, accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Review financial statements, transactions and accounting procedures.
• Prepare audit reports detailing findings, risks and recommendations.
• Recommend improvements to strengthen internal controls and operational efficiency.
• Verify that financial transactions are properly authorised and documented.
• Maintain accurate records of audit procedures, evidence and findings, and follow up on corrective actions from previous audits.

Required profile

• HND in Accounting, Finance or a related field; a Master's degree or relevant certification is a plus.
• 3 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on lending and payment systems.
• Professional certification such as ACCA, ICAN or CPA is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of financial regulations, especially in fintech and lending.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced fintech environment and handle multiple responsibilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems and accounting tools.
• Experience with loan reconciliation, payment gateway accounting and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
