Agri-Commodities Operations Manager (Nigeria)

About the role

The Agri-Commodities Operations Manager will lead end‑to‑end supply‑chain activities for a portfolio of agricultural commodities such as cocoa, cashew nuts, sesame seeds and ginger across Nigeria. Based in Lagos (or regional hubs) the role requires extensive travel to sourcing zones, overseeing procurement, logistics, quality assurance and financial controls.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute seasonal procurement strategies, building relationships with local buying agents, aggregators and farmer cooperatives.
• Manage the domestic logistics network, coordinating transport from farm gates to warehouses and export ports while mitigating transit risks.
• Establish and enforce quality‑control protocols at buying centres and regional warehouses, ensuring compliance with international standards.
• Oversee cash advances and funding to field agents, implementing strict financial controls to prevent fraud and shrinkage.
• Lead and mentor a decentralized team of field officers, warehouse supervisors and quality inspectors.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies such as the Nigerian Export Promotion Council.

Required profile

• Proven experience in agribusiness supply‑chain or commodities operations.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian agricultural markets and export logistics.
• Demonstrated ability to manage large budgets and cash flows with high accountability.
• Leadership experience managing remote teams and stakeholder relationships.
