Field Project Coordinator – Afi Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary

About the role

The Field Project Coordinator will work closely with the Landscape Director to lead WCS activities in the Afi Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary and Afi River Forest Reserve. This role combines field‑based project management with community engagement to protect critical wildlife habitats in Nigeria.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate all WCS activities in the Afi Mountain Wildlife Sanctuary and Afi River Forest Reserve, including law enforcement, ecological restoration, research and monitoring, conservation education and livelihood support.
• Support the Landscape Director in planning, budgeting and reporting for field projects.
• Facilitate collaboration with local communities, government agencies and partner NGOs to ensure effective implementation of conservation actions.
• Monitor project progress, collect field data and prepare regular status reports for senior management.
• Assist in the organization of community outreach and education programmes to raise awareness of wildlife protection.

Required profile

• Proven experience coordinating conservation or environmental projects at the field level.
• Strong understanding of wildlife protection, community engagement and natural resource management.
• Ability to work independently in remote field conditions and travel within the project area.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
