Accountant - MIS & Central Reporting
ECOM Agroindustrial Corp. Ltd. · Lagos
Job description
About the role
The Accountant owns the Management Information System (MIS) and central reporting for the group's West Africa entities (Nigeria at this stage). The role turns operational and accounting data into accurate, timely reports used by management and the board to run an agri-commodity export business. It consolidates daily, weekly and monthly data from each entity, keeps a single reliable source of figures and supports budgeting, forecasting and month-end close.
Key responsibilities
- MIS management: maintain and update central MIS workbooks and dashboards covering purchases, stock, sales, shipments, production and cash; collect daily and weekly data from entity, procurement, warehouse and plant teams and follow up on late or incomplete submissions; build and maintain pivot tables, dashboards and KPI trackers; standardise data templates, naming and coding across entities so reports reconcile; document MIS processes, data sources and report definitions.
- Central reporting: prepare monthly reports on purchases and inventory; prepare daily and weekly flash reports such as commodity purchases (volume, price, cost per tonne), stock positions and shipments; prepare schedules and analysis for meetings and circulations requested by the CFO.
- Accounting and control support: support month-end close (journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations); reconcile MIS figures to the general ledger; track supplier advances, farmer and aggregator pre-financing and inventory valuation; support external and internal audits with schedules and supporting documents.
- Data quality and improvement: check data accuracy and completeness before reports are issued; suggest and implement automation (Excel formulas, Power Query, Power BI) to reduce manual work; keep files version-controlled, backed up and access-controlled.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree (or HND) in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field, minimum Second Class Upper or equivalent.
- Fresh graduate with strong Excel skills, or 2-3 years in accounting, audit, MIS or financial reporting.
- Preferred: progress towards a professional qualification (ICAN, ACCA, CIMA, ICAG or CPA).
- Preferred: experience in agri-commodities, FMCG, manufacturing or export trading.
Required skills
- Strong Excel skills (required for fresh graduates)
- Preferred exposure to an ERP or accounting system (SAP, Sage, Oracle, QuickBooks or similar)
