Accountant – Manufacturing & FMCG Focus

About the role

We are seeking an Accountant to manage day‑to‑day accounting operations, maintain accurate financial records and support financial reporting for a manufacturing/FMCG environment. The role involves ensuring statutory compliance, assisting management with analysis and decision‑making, and collaborating across finance, procurement and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain books of accounts, handle receipts, payments, journal entries and ledger postings.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, including P&L, balance sheet and cash‑flow statements.
• Monitor accounts payable and receivable, perform bank reconciliations and support cash‑flow management.
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, and support cost‑control initiatives.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors, ensure tax and statutory compliance, and maintain related documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• 5–7 years of accounting/finance experience, preferably in manufacturing, FMCG, commodities trading or logistics.
• Professional qualification such as ICAN, ACCA or CIMA (or part‑qualification) is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax and statutory requirements.
• Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.

Required skills

• Advanced MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS) for financial analysis.
• Proficiency with ERP or accounting software for general ledger, reconciliations and reporting.
