Accountant

About the role

The Accountant will be based on-site in Kano State, supporting HABIBU ENGINEERING's engineering and construction projects. This full‑time role involves managing daily financial operations and providing accurate financial data for decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Record transactions, maintain general ledgers, prepare invoices and reconcile bank statements.
• Prepare financial reports, monitor budgets, track project costs and support management with financial analysis.
• Handle accounts payable and receivable, assist with payroll processing and ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers and procurement teams to align financial records with ongoing engineering works and support internal controls and audit processes.

Required profile

• Strong financial accounting skills, including ledger management, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in budgeting, cost control and project accounting within a construction or engineering environment.
• Ability to use accounting software and spreadsheet tools (e.g., ERP systems, Excel) for data analysis and reporting.
• Knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, regulatory compliance and basic audit principles.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional certification (ICAN, ACCA) is an advantage.
• Prior experience as an Accountant or Finance Officer, preferably in engineering or construction.
• Ability to work on‑site full‑time in Kano State and manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
