Legal Counsel

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Legal Counsel to join our fast‑growing fintech team in Lagos. You will provide commercial, regulatory and contractual advice to support our lending, savings and deposit products.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and advise on commercial agreements such as vendor contracts, SaaS licences, banking partnerships and consultancy arrangements.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal support to product, operations, compliance, risk and management teams.
• Review customer‑facing terms, policies and legal notices for digital banking and fintech services.
• Assist with dispute management, debt recovery, regulatory inquiries and pre‑litigation matters.
• Support corporate governance, data‑protection initiatives and maintain contract repositories.
• Coordinate with external counsel and regulatory bodies as needed.

Required profile

• LL.B and B.L qualifications from a recognised institution.
• Called to the Nigerian Bar between 2019 and 2021.
• Experience in fintech, banking, financial services or a commercial law firm with strong exposure to financial‑technology matters.

Required skills

• Strong commercial acumen and ability to assess operational risks.
• Excellent drafting and negotiation skills for a variety of commercial contracts.
• Knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations and data‑protection requirements.
