Legal Counsel

About the role

Renmoney is seeking a motivated Legal Counsel to join its fast‑growing fintech team in Lagos. The role involves providing commercial and regulatory legal advice to support product, operations, partnerships, compliance and risk functions across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor, SaaS, technology, banking partnership and consultancy contracts.
• Provide day‑to‑day legal support to internal teams, reviewing customer terms, operational policies and legal notices.
• Assist with dispute management, debt recovery, regulatory inquiries and pre‑litigation matters.
• Identify, assess and mitigate legal and operational risks, coordinating with external counsel as needed.
• Support corporate governance, compliance initiatives and data‑protection requirements, and maintain contract repositories and renewal schedules.
• Help manage the company’s intellectual property portfolio.

Required profile

• LL.B and B.L qualifications from recognized institutions.
• Called to the Nigerian Bar between 2019 and 2021.
• Relevant experience in fintech, banking, technology or commercial legal advisory environments.

Required skills

• Strong commercial acumen and ability to interpret contractual obligations.
• Experience drafting and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Knowledge of fintech regulatory frameworks and data‑protection laws.
