About the role
The Head of Research & Commercial Strategy will leverage research, market intelligence and commercial analysis to uncover growth opportunities for NASD, enhance the investability and visibility of listed securities, support issuer origination, develop new products and provide senior management with the intelligence needed to boost trading activity and sustainable revenue.
Key responsibilities
- Identify sectors, companies and securities with strong potential for admission, capital raising and secondary‑market activity.
- Develop target lists and investment cases for the Business Development team.
- Produce research and market intelligence to support issuer origination and investor engagement.
- Build a framework to improve research coverage and investor information on NASD‑listed companies.
- Track NASD market quality metrics such as trading frequency, value, spreads, depth, concentration and liquidity.
- Analyse the Commercial Paper market, including programmes, maturities, yields, issuers and investor demand.
- Work with Business Development to identify companies for Commercial Paper programmes and provide supporting research.
- Support development of a secondary Commercial Paper market through analysis of investor behaviour and pricing.
- Evaluate new commercial opportunities such as digital securities, private markets and structured products.
- Monitor competitor exchanges, fintechs and capital‑market infrastructure locally and internationally and produce management dashboards.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing or related field; MBA or postgraduate qualification preferred.
- 8–12+ years of experience in equity or fixed‑income research, investment banking, asset management, securities markets or capital‑market strategy.
- Deep understanding of Nigerian capital markets, securities valuation, market structure and investor behaviour.
- Strong quantitative and analytical capability to turn market data into actionable commercial recommendations.
- Ability to produce decision‑useful research rather than purely descriptive reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex insights to senior management, issuers and investors.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to work closely with Business Development while maintaining independent analytical judgement.
