Head Electrical & HVAC Support Engineer

About the role

This is a resident, technical leadership position in Lagos for the electrical and HVAC maintenance of AKPO and EGINA gas operations. The post reports to the Maintenance Operations Manager and covers the technical content of maintenance methods, plans, spare parts and contractor coordination for electrical networks, UPS, PDCS and HVAC systems.

Key responsibilities

• Own the technical content of maintenance methods, plans, spare parts coverage, working techniques and procedures in line with the Maintenance Policy
• Review and ensure the implementation of maintenance plans prepared by contractors, and coordinate with the Methods Department on consolidation
• Manage spare parts availability through stock parameters and act as Technical Administrator for electrical and HVAC spare parts
• Control the use of maintenance techniques and tools, including condition monitoring, work reports, data trending and spare parts consumption
• Ensure data captured in Unisup is accurate, analyse it and propose optimisation plans
• Manage equipment support means such as documentation, tooling and software, and provide technical expertise on failures and performance losses
• Coordinate external resources (vendors, contractors, means) for electrical and HVAC work, from call-off and scope definition to acceptance of deliverables, and audit contractors' competence
• Provide technical assistance to site operational staff, contribute to budget preparation and cost control, and help train national engineers and technicians
• Act as Acting Maintenance Operations Manager when necessary, and comply with HSE standards and TEPNG emergency procedures

Required profile

• University degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• At least 10 years as an electrical engineer, including 5 in the petrochemical industry
• At least 5 years in a supervisory operational position
• Excellent knowledge of high and low voltage equipment and networks, HVAC, UPS and PDCS
