Assistant Technical Officer, Nurse/Midwife

About the role

The Assistant Technical Officer (Nurse/Midwife) will provide nursing and midwifery care to vulnerable populations in Ngala, Nigeria, supporting integrated WASH, health, nutrition and protection interventions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver nursing and midwifery care, treatment and follow‑up according to doctors’ prescriptions and protocols.
• Assist female patients throughout pregnancy, childbirth and post‑delivery, providing antenatal and postnatal advice.
• Receive and install patients, support those with limited autonomy in feeding, hygiene, movement and comfort.
• Perform triage in waiting areas and wards, identify acute cases, provide first aid and refer to doctors as needed.
• Implement and promote universal hygiene standards and precautions.
• Organize and carry out care and treatments, assist during consultations, daily rounds and other medical procedures.
• Participate in health education for patients and families.
• Conduct admission, surveillance and follow‑up of patients, monitoring health status evolution.

Required profile

• Qualified Nurse or Midwife with ability to work in humanitarian settings.
• Experience providing care to vulnerable or displaced populations.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to adhere to medical protocols and hygiene standards.
