Technical Officer – Global Health Security

About the role

The Technical Officer – Global Health Security will support the EpiC project in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Reporting to the Senior Technical Officer, you will help strengthen surveillance, contact tracing, and data management for priority infectious diseases.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical and operational support for contact tracing and active case search of priority diseases in Akwa Ibom and Bauchi States.
• Gather, analyse, and share disease surveillance data with FHI 360, NCDC, state health authorities, and partner organisations.
• Coordinate with the State Epidemiologist and Disease Surveillance Notification Officers to align state activities with national public‑health strategies.
• Support capacity‑building activities, including training of state health staff on surveillance tools and oxygen system management.
• Contribute to the development of national quality‑assurance guidelines for oxygen equipment.

Required profile

• Relevant experience in public‑health surveillance, disease outbreak response, or related field.
• Ability to work collaboratively with government agencies, NGOs, and community partners.
• Strong communication skills for reporting and training purposes.
• Willingness to travel within the assigned states and work on‑site as needed.

Required skills

• Experience with contact tracing and active case finding.
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting for health surveillance.
• Knowledge of oxygen system logistics and pulse‑oximetry monitoring.
• Familiarity with national and international public‑health guidelines.
