Accountant – Finance & Cash Management

About the role

The school is looking for a skilled Accountant to manage its financial operations and support cash handling activities. You will ensure accurate record‑keeping, compliance with Nigerian regulations, and provide financial insights to aid decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger entries.
• Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist in developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Participate in budgeting, forecasting and internal audit activities.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian tax laws and IFRS reporting requirements.
• Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA) preferred.
• 3‑5 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a fast‑paced team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• In‑depth knowledge of IFRS financial reporting standards.
• Thorough understanding of Nigerian tax laws and local financial reporting requirements.
