Human Resources Manager

About the role

The Human Resources Manager will lead the HR function of a co‑educational full‑boarding secondary school in Lagos. Reporting to the Principal, the role is responsible for shaping and executing the school’s people strategy, ensuring compliance with local regulations and fostering a supportive work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and drive recruitment strategies to attract, select and retain talent that meets the school’s manpower needs.
• Liaise with functional heads to forecast workforce requirements and update organisational structures.
• Manage employee appointments, promotions, and maintain accurate staff records.
• Identify learning and development needs and implement programs to close gaps.
• Oversee performance management, appraisal systems and reward & recognition strategies.
• Administer employee welfare, compensation packages and ensure timely payroll processing.
• Handle disciplinary issues, grievances and appeals in line with policy.
• Ensure compliance with government regulations and keep senior management informed of policy changes.

Required profile

• First degree or equivalent in any discipline, preferably humanities.
• Post‑graduate or professional qualification such as a Master’s in HR Management or CIPM certification.
• Minimum ten (10) years of relevant experience, with at least three (3) years in a managerial capacity.
• Strong understanding of the operations of an educational institution.
