Structural Engineer

About the role

Brit Properties Nig. Ltd is looking for a qualified Structural Engineer to work on a variety of building and infrastructure projects in Lagos. The role combines design, analysis, and on‑site support to ensure structural integrity and compliance with all relevant codes.

Key responsibilities

• Develop structural designs for buildings, bridges and other infrastructure.
• Perform structural analysis using engineering software and manual calculations.
• Prepare drawings, specifications and design reports, and review architectural and engineering documents for feasibility.
• Provide technical support during construction, conduct site inspections and verify quality of works.
• Review and approve contractor submissions, shop drawings and material specifications.
• Prepare calculation sheets, progress reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
• Collaborate with architects, quantity surveyors, geotechnical engineers and project managers throughout project stages.
• Ensure compliance with national and international building codes and conduct risk assessments.
• Supervise and mentor junior engineers and draftspersons, reviewing their designs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree or professional certification is an advantage).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in structural design and project execution.
• Experience on residential, commercial, industrial or infrastructure projects.
• Professional registration (e.g., COREN) or membership with relevant engineering bodies is desirable.
