Senior Product Designer (Fintech/Payments)

About the role

Our client, a technology company focused on solving payments challenges for African businesses, is seeking a Senior Product Designer to craft exceptional payment experiences. You will work closely with product managers and engineers, often as the sole designer, shaping both consumer‑facing and merchant‑facing interfaces.

Key responsibilities

• Define product direction and design strategy for payment and commerce products.
• Conduct user research, synthesize insights, and translate them into design decisions.
• Create user flows, wireframes, high‑fidelity mockups, and prototypes.
• Contribute to and evolve the internal design system (Pax).
• Iterate designs based on real‑world feedback and analytics.
• Collaborate on the team’s shift toward design engineering, building components in code with AI assistance.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience designing digital products with a portfolio that showcases process and outcomes.
• Strong visual design fundamentals: typography, colour, layout, and interaction.
• Proficiency in Figma and good judgment on fidelity levels.
• Experience in financial services, payments, or e‑commerce domains.
• Commitment to accessibility standards and inclusive design.
• Hands‑on experience conducting user research.
• Genuine interest in learning to code and contributing to design‑engineered solutions.
