Senior Business Developer

About the role

The Senior Business Developer will join THE SM RECORDS in Lagos on a contract basis, driving growth and strategic partnerships across the music and digital rights landscape. You will work closely with artists, labels, content owners, and corporate partners to expand the company’s market presence.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct market research and identify new business opportunities in the music and digital media sectors.
• Generate, qualify, and nurture leads, preparing proposals and presentations for prospective partners.
• Negotiate commercial terms and close partnership agreements.
• Coordinate onboarding and service delivery with internal teams to ensure seamless client experiences.
• Monitor industry trends, analyse performance data, and recommend strategic initiatives.
• Report regularly on pipeline status, sales performance, and partnership outcomes to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Strong analytical ability to interpret market data and revenue reports.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Proven experience in business development, sales or partnership management, preferably within music, media or digital services.
• Track record of meeting targets, managing pipelines and collaborating with cross‑functional teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Economics or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Familiarity with digital music distribution, streaming platforms and intellectual‑property management.
