Junior Palo Alto Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Junior Palo Alto Engineer to join our team in Lagos. The role focuses on supporting the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Palo Alto Networks firewalls, monitoring security events, and assisting in project deployments. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in network security.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Palo Alto Networks firewalls.
• Support day‑to‑day administration of Next‑Generation Firewalls (NGFWs).
• Monitor security alerts, logs, and system health dashboards.
• Implement and maintain security policies, NAT rules, and access control configurations.
• Perform routine firewall health checks and preventive maintenance.
• Support incident investigation, troubleshooting, and escalation of complex issues.
• Participate in firewall deployment, migration, and upgrade projects.
• Assist with policy implementation, testing, validation, and documentation of procedures.
• Monitor firewall events, identify potential threats, and support compliance audits.
• Maintain accurate records of configurations, changes, and incident reports; update network diagrams.
• Document troubleshooting activities and resolutions.
• Engage in cybersecurity training and work towards Palo Alto certifications.

Required profile

• Entry‑level candidate with basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and firewall concepts.
• Fundamental knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, and VPN fundamentals.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
• Basic understanding of SIEM and log analysis tools.
• Introductory scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, or Bash (preferred).
