About the role
We are looking for a detail‑oriented Junior Accounting Officer to join our finance team at a leading freight forwarder in Lagos. The role supports day‑to‑day accounting activities, financial record keeping, and statutory reporting for a fast‑paced logistics environment.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain accurate general ledger entries and post daily transactions.
- Prepare and review payment vouchers, invoices, and receipts.
- Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Support accounts payable and receivable, including vendor and customer reconciliations.
- Track logistics‑related costs such as freight, fuel, and clearing expenses.
- Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and variance analysis.
- Ensure proper filing and documentation of financial records.
- Handle statutory compliance tasks, including VAT, WHT, and other tax filings.
- Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor queries.
- Liaise with operations and admin teams to capture accurate costs and control expenses.
Required profile
- B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a fast‑paced environment.
- Good knowledge of Nigerian accounting practices and tax requirements.
- Reside within or close to the Apapa area of Lagos.
Required skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage.
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping.
