Junior Accounting Officer – Logistics Company

About the role

We are looking for a detail‑oriented Junior Accounting Officer to join our finance team at a leading freight forwarder in Lagos. The role supports day‑to‑day accounting activities, financial record keeping, and statutory reporting for a fast‑paced logistics environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate general ledger entries and post daily transactions.
• Prepare and review payment vouchers, invoices, and receipts.
• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Support accounts payable and receivable, including vendor and customer reconciliations.
• Track logistics‑related costs such as freight, fuel, and clearing expenses.
• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts and variance analysis.
• Ensure proper filing and documentation of financial records.
• Handle statutory compliance tasks, including VAT, WHT, and other tax filings.
• Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor queries.
• Liaise with operations and admin teams to capture accurate costs and control expenses.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a fast‑paced environment.
• Good knowledge of Nigerian accounting practices and tax requirements.
• Reside within or close to the Apapa area of Lagos.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage.
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and bookkeeping.
