Import/Export Officer

About the role

We are seeking an Import/Export Officer to manage customs documentation and ensure smooth clearance of shipments for our logistics operations in Lagos. The role involves close coordination with customs authorities, monitoring shipment status, and maintaining accurate records.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit all required customs documentation accurately and on time for each shipment.
• Liaise directly with customs officials to ensure full compliance with applicable regulations.
• Track and monitor shipment progress to guarantee timely clearance through customs.
• Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies that arise during the customs clearance process.
• Maintain organized and up‑to‑date records and filing systems for all customs‑related paperwork.

Required profile

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline.
• Minimum of three years’ hands‑on experience in preparing and clearing customs documents.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
• Strong familiarity with Customs & Excise procedures, including classification and import/export requirements.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, weekends and shift patterns as needed.
• Ability to perform under pressure with high attention to detail and accuracy.
• Customer‑focused mindset with strong interpersonal communication.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data handling and reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word for document preparation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint for presentation of customs data.
