Head of Programs

About the role

The Head of Programs will provide strategic oversight for a dynamic non‑profit focused on gender equity and the elimination of sexual and gender‑based violence in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions. Reporting to senior leadership, you will ensure high‑quality implementation, measurable impact, and alignment with the organization’s mission and strategic priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, planning, and execution of the program portfolio, including annual work plans and operational priorities.
• Ensure program quality, compliance, and robust monitoring, evaluation, learning, and reporting processes.
• Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to program teams, fostering accountability and innovation.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with donors, government agencies, development partners, and other stakeholders.
• Identify funding opportunities, manage program risks, and represent the organization in high‑level forums.
• Collaborate across functions to strengthen cross‑functional coordination and support organizational growth.

Required profile

• PhD or Master’s in Public Policy, Political Science, Gender Studies, Development Studies, Economics, or a related field.
• 7–9 years of progressive experience in program leadership, management, and implementation within nonprofit, development, or social‑impact organizations.
• Proven ability to lead multi‑sectoral programs, manage cross‑functional teams, and engage donors through proposal development and reporting.
• Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder‑management, and problem‑solving skills with a proactive, mission‑driven approach.
