About the role
The Head of Programme will provide strategic leadership and oversight for the Country Office’s programme portfolio, ensuring high‑quality, holistic interventions that are designed, implemented, monitored and aligned with NRC’s mission, strategy and donor requirements. The role drives programme quality, impact, accountability and growth while ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with organisational policies.
Key responsibilities
- Lead development and implementation of the Country Office fundraising strategy, mapping donor policies and aligning them with NRC’s programme and advocacy goals.
- Develop and execute NRC’s partnership strategy in Nigeria, fostering effective collaboration with national and international partners.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the overall country strategy.
- Ensure coherence and quality of core‑competency programming across all processes and documents.
- Strengthen collaboration with other actors through network building, cooperation and partnership implementation.
- Oversee sound and timely grants management using the Project Cycle Management framework and donor requirements.
- Promote synergy between programme and support units.
- Act as Country Director when delegated.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (programme management, business or social sciences); advanced degree is an advantage.
- Minimum 5 years senior management experience in humanitarian or recovery contexts, with responsibility for programme/project management.
- Experience coordinating consortia or partnership implementation and working with MEAL systems.
- Proven results in complex, volatile environments and strong leadership skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and verbal, with excellent drafting abilities.
