Head Nurse

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Head Nurse to lead our nursing team at Nigeria China Friendship Hospital in Lagos. The role involves overseeing patient care, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with clinical standards.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate the activities of nursing staff.
• Ensure patients receive safe, effective, and compassionate care.
• Develop and manage staff schedules and duty rosters.
• Monitor nursing practices and ensure adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
• Assess staffing needs and participate in recruitment, orientation, and training of nurses.
• Evaluate staff performance and provide coaching and mentorship.
• Maintain accurate patient care records and reports.
• Ensure the availability and proper use of medical supplies and equipment.
• Investigate and resolve patient complaints and nursing‑related issues.
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
• Implement quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and infection control guidelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license and current professional registration.
• Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience.
• At least 2–3 years of supervisory or management experience in a healthcare setting.
• Additional qualifications in Nursing Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field are an advantage.
• Certification in nursing leadership or management is desirable.
