Digital Systems & Data Expert – Transport Governance

About the role

The Digital Systems and Data Expert will support GIZ International Services in delivering technical assistance to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) on transport governance. Based in Abuja, Nigeria, the role contributes to the EU‑funded project aimed at fostering sustainable, smart, resilient and safe mobility across land, air and water transport in the ECOWAS region. The position will work closely with GIZ experts and local partners to translate data insights into actionable policy measures.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design, implementation and monitoring of digital systems that support transport regulatory frameworks.
• Analyse and manage transport‑related data to inform policy recommendations.
• Collaborate with ECOWAS authorities and GIZ teams to ensure alignment with project objectives.
• Provide technical input for the development of smart and resilient mobility solutions.
• Support capacity building workshops for ECOWAS staff on digital tools and data‑driven decision making.

Required profile

• Proven expertise in digital systems and data management within the transport sector.
• Strong understanding of transport governance, regulatory frameworks and sustainable mobility concepts.
• Ability to work in an international, multi‑stakeholder environment.
