Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist (OBGYN)

About the role

The British Community Hospital & Outpatient Clinics (BCHOC) is expanding its maternity, obstetrics and gynaecology services and seeks an experienced Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist to lead specialist care, oversee safe labour and delivery, and support the development of neonatal services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynaecological care, including antenatal, intrapartum, post‑natal, infertility, family‑planning and gynaecology clinics.
• Lead management of normal and high‑risk pregnancies and supervise labour‑ward activities.
• Handle obstetric emergencies promptly, perform Caesarean sections and other surgical procedures.
• Collaborate with paediatric and nursing teams for neonatal resuscitation and immediate newborn care.
• Monitor fetal and maternal status throughout labour and make timely decisions on delivery methods or referrals.
• Participate in on‑call and emergency services and contribute to clinical governance and quality‑improvement programmes.
• Support the growth of BCHOC’s maternity and neonatal services and assist in maternal‑mortality reduction initiatives.

Required profile

• Qualified Obstetrician & Gynecologist, preferably at consultant level.
• Proven experience managing routine and high‑risk pregnancies, obstetric emergencies, Caesarean sections and complex gynaecological conditions.
• Excellent clinical judgement, strong communication skills, professional integrity and accountability.
• Ability to work effectively within an established management and governance framework.
