Business Development Manager

About the role

Zig Career Solutions is seeking a proactive Business Development Manager to drive growth in the Shipping & Logistics sector. Based in Lagos, you will work primarily remotely while attending occasional client meetings and events on‑site.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, prospect, and close new business opportunities through outbound outreach and networking.
• Develop and execute lead‑generation strategies and nurture pipelines from initial contact to conversion.
• Engage prospects via calls, emails, meetings, and presentations to pitch services and secure deals.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders.
• Collaborate on new market approaches, go‑to‑market initiatives, and business ideas, especially in a high‑growth environment.
• Conduct market research to uncover opportunities and stay updated on industry trends.
• Track and report key metrics such as leads generated, conversion rates, and pipeline value.

Required profile

• Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in business development or sales, preferably in a startup or high‑growth setting.
• Demonstrated success in lead generation, client outreach, and closing deals.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
• Self‑motivated, results‑driven, and comfortable working independently with limited supervision.
• Strong knowledge of the Lagos business ecosystem and a local professional network.

Required skills

• Familiarity with CRM tools and sales pipeline management.
