About the role
The Advocacy and Community Liaison Officer will design and implement advocacy, stakeholder engagement and community liaison strategies to increase program visibility, strengthen government relations and promote policy influence for IRC’s programmes in Nigeria.
Key responsibilities
- Support the implementation of advocacy and community engagement strategies aligned with country programme priorities.
- Facilitate effective engagement with government ministries, community leaders, civil society organisations and humanitarian actors.
- Generate evidence, map stakeholders and manage policy engagement activities.
- Establish and maintain community feedback mechanisms and strategic relationships with partners.
- Coordinate communication between IRC field teams and external stakeholders at state and national levels.
- Collaborate with programming, MEAL, protection, communications and field teams to ensure community voices inform advocacy priorities.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in advocacy, stakeholder engagement or community liaison within a humanitarian or development context.
- Ability to work collaboratively with multi‑disciplinary teams and external partners.
- Strong analytical skills for evidence generation and stakeholder mapping.
- Commitment to accountability to affected populations and to promoting positive community relations.
