Accounts Director

About the role

We are seeking an Accounts Director to provide strategic leadership and oversee the entire financial management framework of a leading West African construction company. The role will drive financial strategy, risk management and stakeholder engagement to support long‑term growth across multiple African and international locations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise day‑to‑day activities of the Accounts Department and mentor the finance team.
• Develop and implement the company’s financial strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, long‑term financial planning and quarterly reporting to the Board.
• Ensure compliance with international accounting standards, tax laws and statutory regulations in all group locations (e.g., Ghana, DRC, UAE, Sierra Leone).
• Establish and monitor internal controls, lead external audits and regulatory reviews.
• Manage cash flow, receivables collection and ledger reconciliations while driving efficiency.
• Identify financial risks, propose mitigation measures and pursue cost‑reduction and revenue‑optimization opportunities.
• Negotiate financing arrangements, credit facilities and maintain relationships with banks, auditors, regulators and investors.
• Represent the company in financial discussions with board members and external partners.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading finance functions in a multi‑country environment.
• Strong knowledge of international accounting standards and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and execute financial strategies that support growth.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Ability to mentor and develop finance teams.
