Account Assistant

About the role

The Account Assistant will support the finance team in daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate record‑keeping and timely financial reporting. This entry‑level position offers exposure to a range of finance functions within a fast‑moving retail and FMCG environment.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly financial reports.
• Record financial transactions accurately in the accounting system.
• Generate payment vouchers, invoices, receipts and other accounting documents.
• Reconcile bank statements and ledger accounts.
• Maintain organized filing of financial records and supporting documents.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Process petty‑cash transactions and expense reports.
• Support payroll preparation when required.
• Assist during internal and external audits.
• Ensure compliance with company financial policies and procedures.

Required profile

• OND or HND in Accounting, Finance, Banking & Finance or a related discipline.
• 1–3 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
• Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
• High level of accuracy, integrity and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel
• Microsoft Office applications
• Familiarity with accounting software such as Sage or QuickBooks (or similar ERP systems)
