Welder - Truck and Trailer Repairs

About the role

Medessy Enterprises Limited is hiring a full-time welder in Anambra, Nigeria, to carry out welding and fabrication work on metal components, frames, brackets and other structures, and to repair damaged metal parts of trucks, trailers and other heavy-duty equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform welding and fabrication of metal components, frames, brackets and other structures.
• Repair damaged metal parts of trucks, trailers and other heavy-duty equipment.
• Use appropriate welding techniques and equipment, including arc and MIG welding where applicable.
• Inspect metal components for cracks, damage and areas needing repair.
• Cut, shape, grind and join metal materials according to specifications.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, measurements and welding instructions.
• Maintain and repair fabricated metal structures and equipment, and keep welding machines, tools and equipment in good condition.
• Work with mechanics and other maintenance staff, follow safety procedures and wear personal protective equipment.
• Report major structural damage and recommend repair solutions.

Required profile

• Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience as a welder.
• Relevant technical training, apprenticeship or certification in welding and fabrication.
• Practical experience in metal fabrication, cutting, grinding and welding; experience repairing trucks, trailers or heavy-duty equipment is an advantage.
• Ability to read measurements and interpret basic technical drawings.
• Good attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently and as part of a maintenance team.
• Hardworking, reliable, safety-conscious and able to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Knowledge of different welding techniques and metalworking tools.
• Arc and MIG welding.
• Reading technical drawings and interpreting welding instructions.
