Vessel Operation/Tally Officer

About the role

The Vessel Operation/Tally Officer will coordinate vessel loading and discharge activities at the Marina port, ensuring accurate cargo records and compliance with safety procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and monitor vessel operations, including cargo loading, discharging, and transfer.
• Record and verify cargo quantities, weights, and packages, preparing accurate tally sheets and operational reports.
• Cross‑check cargo against shipping documents, manifests, bills of lading, and delivery records, reporting any shortages, excesses or damages.
• Liaise with vessel officers, terminal personnel, stevedores, shipping agents and other stakeholders.
• Monitor cargo handling progress, ensure adherence to schedules, safety procedures and port regulations.
• Assist in preparing discharge, loading and reconciliation reports and maintain vessel operation records.

Required profile

• Minimum OND in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, Marine Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field.
• At least 24 months of relevant experience in vessel operations, cargo tallying or port operations.
• Good understanding of vessel loading/discharge procedures and cargo documentation.
• Strong numerical, analytical and record‑keeping abilities with attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for reporting and data handling.
