Utility Engineer

About the role

A leading FMCG company, recruited through its client MarbleClear, is hiring a Utility Engineer in Ibadan, Oyo State. The role ensures the efficient operation, maintenance and reliability of all utility systems supporting production, keeping utilities available to meet production, safety and quality requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and maintain utility equipment to support continuous production.
• Carry out preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on generators, boilers, chillers, air compressors, pumps, cooling towers, AHUs, WTP, WWTP, boreholes and other utility systems.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns, diagnose faults and take corrective action to minimise downtime.
• Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to reliability and efficiency.
• Run preventive maintenance schedules according to OEM recommendations and company plans.
• Maintain maintenance records, equipment history, inspection reports and utility performance logs.
• Work with Production, Quality, HSE, Procurement and Stores teams on timely maintenance and spare parts.
• Monitor utility consumption and support cost-saving initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards, and assist with annual servicing, shutdowns and inspections.
• Train and develop technicians on equipment operation, maintenance procedures and safety.

Required profile

• HND, ND or B.Sc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 2-4 years of hands-on experience in utility operations and maintenance in an FMCG or manufacturing setting.
• Experience with power generation, water and wastewater treatment, air compressors, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, AHUs, boreholes and utility distribution.
• Knowledge of preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance, and ability to troubleshoot faults.
• Experience reading engineering drawings, maintenance manuals and equipment documentation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning and communication skills, working safely with cross-functional teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance practices.
